remembering her mother
Vera McAllister (1994)

This canoe was a great work of love. My mother’s dad made it for her 16th birthday. Mom liked the quiet stillness of the canoe, the peace and the ability to connect with nature.  It now sits by the water, not workable.  The outside has come off and you now see the inside... from dust to dust.

remembering her father
Edward Suski (1992)

My dad was a state legislator in Michigan.  As such, he dressed sharply in slacks, button down shirts and his size 13 wingtips. After he died, I remember thinking those shoes were impossible to fill.
