Adriana Forcatto (Argentina)
remembering her friend
from Lima, Peru
Jose Napoleon Medina (2001)

This candle my friend made which I've kept in remembrance of him, reminds me not of the frailty of the body that suffered and succumbed to a terminal illness, but of the strength and beauty of his character.
Morris Sherman (Sierra Leone)
remembering his big brother
Momoh Sherman (2001)

This is a picture of a Calabash tree.  Momoh used to pick this fruit and dry it himself so that he could sell it around town. The dried Calabash skin can be used as a bowl.  People use the Calabash bowl to wash rice before they cook it.
