This opportunity was presented to specific communities of service  to encourage awareness of these communities and to build bridges of understanding.  Self-portraits are often a window into the soul of the artist.  Sharing  about yourself though a self-portrait gives others an opportunity to know you.  Viewing self-portraits gives us the opportunity to know the “other”.  In this way we come to understand more about the places we come from and who we are.
